la strada UK Owners' Club
an independant club focussed on owning
and enjoying la strada 'vans.
In
these pages the owners of la stradas are able to share their enjoyment
of their 'van, and those who are not yet owners may appreciate why we
believe la strada to be the premier
manufacturer of van conversion motorhomes. Welcome to the la
strada UK Owner's world!
The club
was formed by a group of owners who conceived the idea at Peterborough
Motorhome show in 2000. The formation of the Club was then ratified
at a meeting at Bath and West Showground on 17th September 2000. We
are an entirely voluntary organisation. la
strada, the German manufacturers, do not control the club but
have been very supportive, and the launch of the Club was very much
encouraged by the then la strada Marketing
Manager Sabine Baumgartner. We continue to enjoy a very warm relationship
with the Company, who host regular European events and factory visits.
Senior staff from la strada even respond
- in English - to any questions we need to raise. Help like this really
makes members feel like part of the family!
Today,
our membership list numbers around 200. Although many members seem to
be located within a 100 mile radius of Birmingham, others are spread
throughout the UK and some even spend quite a lot of time abroad, in
sunnier cliimates! We meet about 6 times a year at venues organised
by one member or another, and licensed by ACCEO, the Association of
Caravan and Camping Exempted Organisations. The meetings are very informal
affairs and, although some events are arranged e.g. walks, visits to
nearby places of interest etc., the emphasis is on freedom to do your
own thing. Everyone who joins seems to say that we have a very distinctive,
easy-going and friendly atmosphere! Perhaps the character of the 'vans
is reflected in the owners? Members are free to attend 'Meets' (as we
call them) or not. Some members don't attend the gatherings but instead
join the Club as a means of exchanging information with other owners.
